Two full days of in-depth lectures focused on 3D animation; from Workflow, Acting, Performance to Polish, Michal covers it all; including actual live demos in Maya.
Michal Makarewicz is a former multiple award-winning Pixar artist of 20 years. He spent those years at Pixar as a Fixer, Animator, Directing Animator, Supervising Animator, Director (Disney+), and Intern Training Lead.
He has worked on some of Pixar's most beloved shorts and feature films such as Toy Story 3 and 4, Incredibles 1 and 2, Finding Dory, Brave, Cars 1 and 2, Wall-E, UP, Soul, Ratatouille, as well as many others.
Michal led the Pixar internship along other educational series for employees at the studio. He also has had the honour of mentoring under Founder Ed Catmull.
Michal left Pixar with multiple awards. He’s been honoured with 2 Annies (Soul, Ratatouille), been nominated for a VES award (Incredibles 2) and a Reuben Award (Soul). Michal was also honoured with a scholarship in his name at Vancouver Film School.
He is currently the Head of Studio Animation for SPIRE Animation Studios.
Michal is also the Founder of the Animation Collaborative. An animation school focused on learning high-level feature Animation, Story and Character design. Taught by some of the top artists in the field, the school has helped many achieve their goals.
Michal is also the Founder of ProRigs a 40+ character library of professionally designed and built 3D rigs. These are for students and professionals to help for training or use in commercial use.
Michal also teaches Animation Masterclasses around the world to a variety of schools and companies. He is available for speaking events, teaching events, and consulting.
