Fragments is a performance that explores the anonymization and aestheticization of global conflicts and human relationships that emerges from the use of artificial intelligence systems.

Athens-based musician and vocalist Evita Manji is connecting the dots between the human experience, climate change, quantum physics and death, in an attempt to dig deeper into the primordial truth of existence. Through their carefully constructed practice of synthesis and sound design led by choir-inspired vocals, they fabricate musical worlds consisting of ever-expanding sonic organisms and shapeless solid non-materials. 

In 2021 Evita launched their platform myxoxym, releasing the singles “OIL/TOO MUCH” and “EYES/NOT ENOUGH”, as well as curating the first edition of the fundraising compilation series “PLASMODIUM I”, aiming to raise environmental awareness and provide support to relief efforts for wildlife affected by forest fires in Greece.

Lorem is an individual/multiple identity working across sound and media by exploring states of consciousness and emotional datasets through visceral narrative AV experiences. Lorem is directed by Francesco D’Abbraccio, creative co-director of Krisis Publishing, an editorial and curatorial plaftform focusing on the impact of media culture on contemporary contexts.

In the wake of the installation Distrust Everything, Tesh is the performative version of the work's new chapter. Combining transcriptions of dreams and weird literature through the use of machine learning systems, the work weaves sonic and narrative elements within Lorem's skewed and oneiric imagery. Tesh is a hymn to imagination as an escape route from the realism that burdens our language and our experience of the world.

A collaboration between Diagraf (Patrick Trudeau) and Claire Kenway, Between Dreams is an audiovisual work created with the assistance of a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. With a filmmaker's perspective on visual thematics and narrative, Diagraf combines minimalist aesthetics and complex evolutive graphics with emotive cinematic content. Keenly tuned in to the sounds of the musicians and producers he works alongside, Diagraf often creates new content inspired by their music, working much like a filmmaker in reverse as he edits his images live while the musical performance unfolds.

An A/V performance based on circadian rhythms, sleep, and dreams, designed to elicit a deep, meditative state of relaxation. Between Dreams is a journey into the subconscious depths of the human mind.

A true multidisciplinary artist, Herman Kolgen utilizes a deft combination of sound, image and interaction to build multi-sensory, immersive experiences. His interest in mapping and dissecting natural phenomena on microscopic and macroscopic levels is the starting point for a broad range of work.

​​Using the human camera of our iris, traces of light are transmitted to our brain, where they are potentially encoded in our memory. We are dependent upon light to interpret fragments of our world at every moment — how many images has our visual perception registered, processed and compiled throughout our lives? What remains of these diffracted moments and ephemeral flashes that result from the constant bombing of photons and optical frequencies? Are they blurred memories or clear ones? Do they create a retinal amnesia or a permanent imprint?

Whatever decisions are to be made, there are only two possible attitudes. One is to be confident, the other is to be uncertain. It is precisely this Incertitude that Matthew Biederman & Alain Thibault's eponymous performance is about, merging analog material and digital control. This is how paintings with radical forms are modulated, literally contaminated by the synthetic sonorities of a resolutely repetitive music in the manner of a Philip Glass on steroids which, regularly, is tinged with granularities of different natures. 

Incertitude thus oscillates between two states going from musical to sonorous and from formal to particulate. It is interesting to note that such machines can only be used in conjunction with more "conventional" computers, both in input and output. This allows us to approach a certain form of complexity that the last part of the performance Incertitude illustrates perfectly via its algorithmic granularity evoking this experimental tendency of the cinema which never denies itself any of the fields of the possible.

Alexis Langevin-Tétrault and Guillaume Côté are interdisciplinary artists who connect sound, light and image. Aubes is their most recent collaboration.

Alexis is an interdisciplinary artist. He participated in the founding of the collectives Falaises, DATANOISE, QUADr and ILEA, in addition to presenting his solo audiovisual performances such as Hypercube (one) and Interférences (String Network).

Influenced by what surrounds him, sound artist Guillaume explores, through a mixture of concrete, synthetic and vocal materials, the territorial, linguistic and social dynamics specific to Quebec. Eclectic, his artistic research is based on the encounter with the Other through musical discourse, but also on the abstraction induced by modular systems.

mesocosm is Montreal/Tiohtià:ke-based audiovisual project created by Emma Forgues, Joël Lavoie, and Philippe Vandal.

Emma Forgues is a multidisciplinary artist exploring technology's impact on the female body, showcased at galleries and festivals including MUTEK and ISEA. Philippe Vandal is a new media artist at the intersection of technology, ecology, and art, featured at Pompidou Centre and Ars Electronica. Joël Lavoie is a Composer, sound engineer, and multi-disciplinary artist exploring the evocative and otherworldly possibilities of soundscapes, he is frequently collaborating with performing arts productions.

mesocosm is an audiovisual exploration of synthetic ecosystems blending synthesis, field recordings, and real-time visuals for an organic, chaotic harmony.

Xavier Ménard is a montrealer composer and sound artist graduated from Université de Montréal (UdeM) with a bachelor’s degree in digital music. He creates his sounds with natural and instrument recordings and mixed electric components (switches, mixing boards, synthesizer, oscillators).

Myriam Bleau is a composer, digital artist and performer based in Montréal. Using music and sound as a point of departure, she creates audiovisual performances, video works, installations and interactive interfaces that articulate sound, light and movement.

This audiovisual performance highlights the tensions created by intrusive thoughts through dark, fragmented sounds and visuals.
