Come celebrate Forward Music Group's 16th anniversary at the PHI Centre, featuring Backward Music artists Sarah Pagé, Nick Schofield and Charbonneau/Amato!

Forward Music Group is a Halifax-based management and record label team representing high-calibre, diverse artists from Atlantic Canada and beyond. Since 2007, FMG has been one of very few established music companies east of Montreal, focused on developing and supporting unique Canadian music and art.

This event is part of a series of shows presented in various venues across the country celebrating Forward Music Group's 16th anniversary.

PERFORMANCES BY

PHI Event Centre Forward Music Group16anniversaire Sarah Page

Sarah Pagé

To encapsulate the career of Montreal-based exploratory harpist Sarah Pagé, one would have to draw long, constellation-like shapes across genres, borders and histories. Her latest album, Voda, is a dynamic journey that drifts the listener through tangled knots and flowing eddies. Comprising nine long-form movements, it gathers, grows and throws off tensions, revealing murky depths and phenomenal tenderness. Where her last album, Dose Curves, was rooted firmly in the harp, Voda’s scope is much wider: instruments populating the pieces include bass, cello, violin, koto, electronics, oak branches, water bowls and waterphone.

Nick Schofield

Nick Schofield is a Gatineau-based musician, producer and self-proclaimed ambassador of ambient music. Nick’s new album Ambient Ensemble features distant piano, vintage synths and faded orchestral arrangements resounding in spacious natural reverb. Where his previous two albums (Water Sine, Glass Gallery) were entirely solo endeavours and synth-focused, Ambient Ensemble marks a shift towards acoustic instrumentation with accompanists.

In concert, Nick is developing a new performance that merges his love of ambient music with the energy of emotional dance music.

Charbonneau/Amato

Charbonneau/Amato is a modular synth, a Farfisa, drum machines and a couple mono synths. It's the project of Mathieu Charbonneau (Avec pas d'casque, Organ Mood, Ferriswheel) and Pietro Amato (The Luyas, Bell Orchestre). The Montreal duo has released two records, Synth Works Vol.1 & 2, and recently worked on scoring a documentary on Burning Man Festival.
