ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
What is the objective of this workshop?
The workshop aims to demystify music production in Dolby Atmos, allowing participants to start their immersive projects in their own studios, with a view to potential commercial distribution.
The workshop will be divided into two parts, including a theoretical component and a practical component where participants will be able to mix their own compositions in PHI's sound studio. We will explore current techniques and best practices of the technology and consider how immersive sound can amplify the emotional and narrative impact of a musical composition.
At the end of the workshop, participants will have a collective listening session of their work in Habitat Sonore, the PHI Centre's immersive listening room.
What can you expect from the workshop?
It is important to note that this workshop specifically focuses on the application of immersive audio concepts in the context of Dolby Atmos.
This workshop will take place in four sessions*:
2 theory sessions: Wednesday & Thursday from 6 PM to 10 PM
2 practical sessions: Saturday & Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM
1 listening and conclusion session: Sunday at 7 PM

Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is aimed at intermediate to advanced musicians, producers, and engineers who have a solid foundation in audio production workflows and a basic understanding of immersive and multichannel audio concepts. While the exploration of Dolby Atmos in the workshop is done using Pro Tools, the techniques taught are applicable to other software such as Logic Pro, Studio One, Nuendo, and others.

Philippe Rochefort
Philippe Rochefort has been the PHI Centre's Creative Sound Supervisor since 2022. With 20 years of experience in the audio world, Philippe is currently dedicated to the rollout of PHI's immersive sound program and helping artists appropriate this technology for their own work.
Founded in 2012, the PHI Centre is dedicated to innovation at the forefront of creative production and encourages the design, development, production, and presentation of a wide variety of disciplines and forms, with a focus on digital technologies and new media. Its programs and architecture are designed to demonstrate agility, adaptability, and high production capacity.
At the crossroads of art, cinema, music, design, and technology, the PHI Centre works to expand the spaces for creative production and consumption of art by offering a unique, unclassifiable, engaging, and constantly evolving programming.
