Our Approach

The PHI Foundation’s Education Department offers inclusive programming and a variety of pedagogical resources that encourage the exploration of contemporary art. The education team’s pedagogical approach is rooted in the pedagogy of movement and reflexive analysis that draws on diverse perspectives. With accessibility to contemporary art at the core of our approach, we expand the notion of movement to include multiple dimensions: somatic, affective, emotional and intellectual. Each year, the education team engages with thousands of participants from schools, academic institutions, community groups, language schools and the general public. We offer group visits, creative activities, events, special projects and collaborations.

What We Offer

Accessibility

Accessibility and inclusion of all individuals is of the utmost importance at the PHI Foundation. The Education Department is dedicated to working with groups of all abilities to develop a sense of connection to contemporary art through various means of movement: intellectual, emotional, physical. With an approach based on respect and care, we view learning as a mutually engaging force. 

Group Visits

The Education Department offers on-site group visits and online virtual animations for school groups from elementary to university, community groups, language schools and the general public. The group visit can be combined with a creative activity.

Create + Reflect

The Education Department offers creative activities and accompanying resources on site and online. Creative activities are designed by local artists. We also offer an Activity Kit for families and elementary schools. Our Movements resource offers articles, exploration questions and video clips on key themes related to the current exhibition.
