Peggy Hogan

Peggy Hogan is a music educator and researcher, content producer, and recording artist. As her rap persona Hua Li, she champions the representation of Asian American feminisms and cross-cultural solidarity through music while maintaining a firm grasp on musicianship and tradition in her songwriting. A fierce performer, she has had the opportunity to bring this message to significant stages across the world, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, World Pride Toronto and Reykjavik’s Secret Solstice Festival. Having completed an MA in Musicology from McGill University in 2019, she strives to bring music research in conversation with the public sphere. She is Marketing and Label Manager at Outside Music/Next Door Records and is host of Landr Audio’s “Learn Music” web series.

Sarah Shoucri

Sarah Shoucri has worked in the Quebec music industry for nearly 20 years. Through her many roles, from PR agent to music manager, to Communications and International Relations Director at the POP Montreal Music Festival, to working for a funding institution, she remained passionate about international development that put the spotlight on local talent. Under her own shouc-shouc banner, she leads efforts in international cooperation since 2018 that focus on including representatives from West Africa and the SWANA regions in the broader music industry conversation. She is currently an MA candidate in Global Diplomacy at SOAS London.

Flora Garnier | shesaid.so Montreal

Flora Garnier has always been dedicated to bridging the gaps between artists and audiences - whether promoting talent, producing shows, or facilitating the partnerships that make the show go on. Specialized in music management and international development, Flora is currently working as ADN international for the SODEC and the SAT and also manages an artist called Sara-Danielle. As a facilitator with ADISQ, the “Québec Association for the Recording, Concert and Video Industries”, she provides training for Quebec artists to navigate the French music market. Before making her way to music management, she dipped into different facets of cultural production. After studying film production and working on television and film sets, she managed professional dance workshops in the US, Europe and briefly in Japan. As a production and tour Manager in Paris, she coordinated tours for soul, funk and jazz maestros like Roy Ayers, Meshell Ndegeocello and Ed Motta. In parallel, she’s enjoyed working in various festival roles, welcoming artists, managing delegates and managing volunteers for many Festivals in Europe and Québec. She also recently co-founded the first Canadian chapter of Shesaid.so, based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. They aim to build bridges across Tiohtià:ke/Montreal’s various musical scenes through eclectic programming, insightful networking and radical inclusion. She’s often on the road, roaming about new music markets and making meaningful connections at industry meetups. Flora’s always looking forward to understanding new cultures, and ways of working together across borders.

Lola Baraldi | shesaid.so Montreal

Lola Baraldi is a creative project manager specialized in event-planning and communications. She currently works as MUTEK Montreal’s partnerships & virtual platform coordinator. She’s been active in the music industry since 2017. Among others, she’s managed a venue launch in Mexico City, an electronic music blog, hundreds of festival volunteers, a Burning Man camp, social media strategies for cultural organisations, and press kits for Canadian and European producers. Lola sits on Montreal’s Night Council, run by MTL 24/24, and is always interested in learning more about the night-time economy. Her research on music, and street art, has been published in projects like Norient’s “Sampling Politics Today” series and Queens University’s “Context and Meaning” conference. She is currently completing a Cultural and Artistic Management Masters, while also advising SINGA Quebec - a non-profit facilitating cultural and social exchange between refugees and Montrealers.

Cathrine Heen | shesaid.so Norway

Cathrine Heen works as a label manager, A&R, and with promotion in Grappa Musikkforlag, one of Norway’s oldest and largest independent record labels. She’s also leading the group FONO Development and is co-director of shesaid.so Norway.

Dina Liberg | shesaid.so Sweden

Dina is the director of shesaid.so Sweden – a community for women, gender minorities and allies in the music industry. She is also a project coordinator at the Swedish Society of Composers and the founder of Lionberg Music – a sync and consultancy agency.

Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser | Norway

Influences: Kurt Vile, Kate Bush, Eartheater

Oslo, Norway-based indie-rock artist Tuvaband is a critically-acclaimed artist with an impressive international profile that, to date, has earned 40 million cumulative streams on Spotify. Tuvaband is the wildly eclectic brainchild of fearless songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser. Tuva previously earned a Norwegian Grammy nomination. Her song “Irreversible” was remixed by beloved dub icon Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Tuva’s intrepid artistry has garnered favorable comparisons to Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins, David Lynch, and CocoRosie. Her songwriting exudes an indie-pop mystique, easing through delicate, piano-led folk, softly-soaring post-rock, and carefully-crafted sound design. Floating over these carefully-composed songs and densely textured soundscapes are Tuva’s fluttery vocals which manage to be both visceral and vulnerable. Tuvaband’s upcoming album, New Orders —her fourth overall—is a bold exploration of the many facets of her creativity. It marks the first time she did everything on an album, including playing all the instruments (except trombone and drums, though she programmed these beforehand and additionally kept parts of it), recording, producing, and mixing. It’s a pure transmission of Tuva’s full-bloom artistry.

Salóme Katrin | Iceland

Salóme is a composer, singer and pianist. She won the Kraumur Music Award in 2020 for her EP Water and was also nominated for Newcomer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards 2021. Since debuting her music and performance to the public in 2019, the 24-year-old has garnered great praise from music fans and professionals alike, building a steady buzz that has seen her perform to packed crowds at solo shows, living room concerts, clubs and at local festivals notably opening for the popular Of Monsters and Men.

Vanessa Blais-Tremblay

Vanessa is a professor-researcher of musicology and feminist studies at UQAM and director of the DIG! “Différences et inégalités de genre dans la musique au Québec”. She is also a violinist and singer-songwriter.

Raindear | Singer-songwriter, Sweden

Rebecca Bergcrantz aka Raindear is a producer, songwriter and artist from Sweden, who grew up immersed in music, inspired by her parents who are both reputable musicians from the jazz and classical world. Absorbing all she could from them, Raindear sang and wrote songs from a very young age, and eventually went on to write and self-produce her albums Embers (2016) and Skies to My Name (2019). Both albums received excellent reviews from key tastemakers and blogs worldwide such as Billboard, Noisey, CLASH, and The 405 to name a few. Raindear has a keen sense of style mixing boho, rave, retro synths and worldly beats, which brings her to craft something very unique both musically and visually.

Marte Eberson | Singer-songwriter, Norway

Norwegian singer and keyboardist, Marte Eberson, has made a big impact with her music in a lot of different genres. With a long resume she has received prices and acknowledgements for a lot of different projects and music styles. Marte Eberson has a broad range as a musician and performer, taking on different roles and mastering several genres. Referred to as a synth wizard, Marte brings her own feelings into the soundscape through the many different expressions a synth can produce. Collaborating with her father, the famous Norwegian jazz/rock/prog guitarist Jon Eberson, in the project Eberson, Marte has recorded two studio-albums which both received massive positive reviews. In her solo project Marte uses her beautiful singing voice, expressing even more relatable feelings through her precise writing and relatable storytelling. Her established position as a master of several music arts has given Marte memorable performance opportunities. She played with Alan Walker at the prestigious Coachella festival in Los Angeles, as well as performing together with Ane Brun at Øyafestivalen in Oslo.

DJ Killa-Jewel | QC, Canada

Electronic / Hip Hop

A 24-year veteran of the underground hip hop scene and turntablist community, DJ Killa-Jewel has rocked decks across North America, Europe and Asia at some of the most prestigious clubs, concerts and festivals to date. Well known for her collaboration with Thud Rumble’s DJ Q-Bertin his Do It Yourself Vol. 2 DVD, Killa-Jewel’s participation in numerous DJ battles including the Canadian DMCs, ITF Scratching Categories (NYC), the World Vestax Extravaganza (Japan), and the Red Bull Thre3Style Canadian Finals (Calgary) solidified her place amongst the best in the industry. Also a producer herself, she released her first unofficial album, Saudade, in 2014. Later, she was joined by Nate Husser, Wasiu, Ras Kassand Sereni-T, along with the use of her own voice as a singer on the Reckless EP, her latest release from 2020, solidifying her status as both a producer and performing artist. She writes all her own music and spends a large amount of time considering conceptual takes on her work, which bring an element of theatricalism and originality to her work.
