The artist premieres his new double LP, which unfolds like a frenetic voyage through the mind of an emotional man in artificial times, alongside a MAKTABA pop-up and art pop-up.
Nestled in small spaces, NARCY's seminal record To Be An (Arab) is an exploration of emotional intelligence vs. artificial intelligence. Set in the backdrop of a self-directed therapy session, NARCY interacts with an AI Therapy bot N.O.O.R. (played by Dj Nooriyah) as she navigates his complexities, issues with the music industry, cultural representation and ultimately, his manhood. This 60-minute project is split into two sides, reflecting the gemini individuality of NARCY as an artist.
MAKTABA will have a pop-up in the adjacent space (Galerie 1) with unique artwork tied to the album, as well as the pre-sale of the album vinyl, books and merch. Come say hi!
NARCY's upcoming 2LP is a swan song to the old music career in an analog world. How is music and expression different in an age of misinformation, altered realities and digital interaction? Split into two sides, Side 1 deals with being an Anglo-Arab in French Canada, while Side 2 deals with the idea of being a man in a destructive world. It will be released in August 2024.
The album features production by NARCY, Thanks Joey, Mike Chav, 2oolman of the Hallucation, Nicholas Craven, Sandhill, Bei-ru and more.
Features include Redveil, Ziad Rahbani, P-Thugg of Chromeo, Todd Rundgren, Dave Chappelle, Mo Amer, Niko Is, Donnell Rawlings, Nooriyah, Ransom, Bu Kolthoum, La Force and more.
