Detroit’s legendary Theo Parrish returns to Montréal for another long-form Sunday afternoon session.
About the Concert
Theo Parrish playing records for hours-on-end remains one of dance music’s most momentous occasions, and we’re blessed to have him returning to Montreal as autumn fades in the city. Parrish touches upon music from all corners - stirring sweet soul music, far-out jazz, and classic house and techno - in his fabled long-form sets. A titan of dance music, doing what he does best.
About the Artist
Theo Parrish is a multifaceted creative force whose contributions to music and art have indelibly impacted the global scene. Born in Washington D.C., raised in Chicago, and rooted in Detroit's rich musical history, Theo is a DJ, producer, selector, arranger, and visual artist whose work embodies creative independence and innovation.
Since 1995, Parrish has been a pivotal figure in Detroit's creative community, playing legendary venues like Saint Andrew's Hall and the Rhythm Kitchen, and building a reputation as a trailblazer in Black dance music. He founded Sound Signature Recordings in 1997, a label synonymous with soulful, genre-defying releases, and remains dedicated to pressing vinyl independently with Detroit's Archer Record Pressing Co.
With a BFA in sound sculpture from the Kansas City Art Institute, Parrish's approach to music transcends traditional boundaries. His dynamic sets and productions challenge norms and redefine possibilities, blending raw emotion with technical brilliance.
From his deep house innovations to his timeless mixes, Theo Parrish continues to engage, challenge, and redefine the boundaries of Black dance music, exemplifying creative independence.
