Audiotopie and the PHI Foundation for Contemporary Art are launching a series of free intergenerational sound workshops!
Inspired by the themes of lineage, dreams, language, and memory at the heart of Laure Prouvost’s Oma-je exhibition, these activities invite intergenerational pairs to rediscover familiar objects through recordings of voices, soundscapes, and everyday sounds.
Over the course of three sessions, and with the support of mediators from Audiotopie and the PHI Foundation, these objects will be transformed into sound instruments using intuitive electronic devices.
SESSION 1 | EXHIBITION VISIT AND SOUND MATERIAL CREATION
This session consists of two parts: a brief guided tour of the Laure Prouvost: Oma-je exhibition, followed by an immersion in sound creation. Through playful exercises, participants will explore the themes of filiation and memory using sound, drawing inspiration from the world of wordplay.
SESSION 2 | RECORDING
Following the thematic and sonic brainstorming of the first workshop, this session will focus on recording participants’ voices and sounds. These creations will then be electronically integrated into their familiar objects.
SESSION 3 | COLLECTIVE PERFORMANCE
The third session centers on a sensory jam. Each participant interacts with their everyday object, now enhanced with sound sensors. This jam takes place in an improvisational setting, guided by principles of free or directed sound exploration. The group dynamic is built around sound-based games, encouraging both attentive listening and individual expression.
The workshops will be held in French, with whispered translation into English if needed.
