Collective podcast listening: archives, futures and decoloniality by La Couleur de l’Art

As part of the RAN International Symposium – Black Atlantic Networks: Heritage, Knowledge, and Solidarity (November 18—22, 2025), Nigra Iuventa and PHI present Collective Podcast Listening: Archives, Futures, and Decoloniality by La Couleur de l’Art. Using excerpts from the podcasts In/tension (Power Plant Gallery) and La Couleur de l’Art, hosted by Mélissa Andrianasolo, this activity invites reflection on time, memory, and decolonial legacies. In dialogue with Manuel Mathieu’s exhibition Unity in Darkness, the event explores the transformative power of archives and collective storytelling.

About the facilitator

Mélissa Andrianasolo is a doctoral student in art history at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Her research focuses on the praxis of Afro-descendant artists in artistic spaces in the city of Montreal. She is the author of the podcast La Couleur de l’Art.

Meet with Cheryl Sim, Curator of our Fall-Winter 2025-2026 Exhibitions

Cheryl Sim, Managing Director and Chief Curator at PHI, will offer an informal presentation on her curatorial approach in relation to the three exhibitions featured in PHI’s Fall-Winter 2025-2026 season. Sim will discuss the works of Josèfa Ntjam, Manuel Mathieu, and Keiken, addressing the various issues and themes that run through their projects presented at PHI.

As part of the 1 Artwork / 1 Minute video series, developed by PHI’s Education Department, a team member offers a brief interpretation of a single artwork from a current exhibition. During the event, a PHI educator will draw on the 1 Artwork / 1 Minute – Manuel Mathieu video, to offer a more in-depth presentation of the featured artwork, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
