Higher

HIGHER is the second part of a tetralogy representing the 4 elements, started with Sur La Voie Ensoleillée in 2014. The first album represented EARTH—roots and anchoring—while HIGHER symbolizes AIR—elevation and the wind of change.

Co-produced by Michael League, the 4-time Grammy award winner and leader of the legendary Snarky Puppy, HIGHER introduces a new style of music style: HighSoul, a mix of R&B, Jazz, Soul and Hip Hop that would serve as a soundtrack to a psychedelic voyage for lovers of cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

The lyrics are shared from the perspective of a fictional black woman who recounts her own spiritual journey from anger to forgiveness in a whirlwind of emotions.

The album HIGHER celebrates its first year of life, with a birth in the middle of a pandemic that prevented Malika Tirolien and her team to present the music in a live context without gauge and without limit...until now!

Biography

Malika Tirolien is a Guadeloupean vocalist, producer and songwriter based in Montreal, Canada. She has become an internationally recognized artist through her numerous collaborations with Snarky Puppy, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Richard Bona, Alain Jean-Marie, Lara Fabian and more. She is also the lead singer of freshly Grammy nominated group Bokanté and a band member of 4 times Grammy winner: Jacob Collier.

Her self-produced debut album, Sur La Voie Ensoleillée (2014), part of a tetralogy based on the elements, garnered great reviews while reaching #5 of RnB/soul canadian iTunes charts. This album represented EARTH.

Her new album, HIGHER, co-produced by the excellent producer Michael League (Snarky Puppy, Bokanté, Ground Up Music), was released in February 2021 and showcases a new genre called HighSoul, mixing Jazz, R&B, Soul and Hip Hop. It is the second installment of the tetralogy and symbolizes AIR.
