Jessica Moss - Phosphenes
Daily at 10 am, 3:06 pm, 8:12 pm

Light Conductor - Sequence Two
Daily at 10:40 am, 3:47 pm

Montreal violinist, composer and singer Jessica Moss has performed and recorded with a wide spectrum of ensembles over the past two decades. Phosphenes, released in November 2021, is Jessica Moss’s fourth album, and her third for Constellation. Phosphenes is the most incisive and inexorable music Moss has made to date, inscribing halos of refracted light out of deep solitude and hermetic darkness with especially solemn determination and intensity.

The second album of prismatic slow-burn analog synth instrumentals by the duo of Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes) and Stephen Ramsay (Young Galaxy). Expanding on the hypnagogic ambience of their warm and uncluttered 2019 debut, Lasek and Ramsay add subtle but scintillating structure and electricity to these four new longform tracks. Fans of Tangerine Dream, Roedelius, Laurie Spiegel, and Laaraji should feel right at home.

Markus Floats - Third Album
Daily at 11:25 am, 4:31 pm

T. Gowdy - Therapy With Colour
Daily at 11:58 am, 5:04 pm

JOYFULTALK - A Separation of Being ↗
Daily at 12:26 pm, 5:33 pm

Third Album is the Constellation debut from Montréal-based multi-disciplinary artist and musician/composer Markus Lake, an active force in the city’s DIY music community who’s been releasing synthetic audio works under the Markus Floats moniker over the past decade – alongside playing bass in wide range of punk, post-punk, experimental and Afrofuturist outfits (including Elle Barbara’s Black Space and Egyptian Cotton Arkestra) and co-founding the local indie music space Drones Club.

T. Gowdy is a Montreal-based music producer, audio/visual performer, and sound artist; Therapy With Colour is his Constellation debut. It is his most sonically and conceptually acute solo work to date, inspired by experiments with the Nova Pro 100 Light and Sound Mind Machine (among the best-known home hypnosis "mind machine" devices, first released in the late 1990s). The music on Therapy With Colour is meditative but resolutely contemporary and highly engaging. These tracks steer clear of gauzy New Age tropes, slow-moving drone, or environmental music. Consistent with theories of "mind machine" brainwave synchronization, they involve techno-adjacent pulse and rhythm that reward active listening while working co-equally as dissociative concentration music.

Free-thinking Nova Scotia composer, musician and visual artist Jay Crocker (aka JOYFULTALK) channels Minimalism, Japanese environmental music, Maghrebian rhythmic modes and other numinous folkways to create his most focused, vibrant work to date. Based on a monumental, kaleidoscopic graphic score, A Separation Of Being is translated from two-dimensional page to trans-dimensional aural life using an array of homemade instruments, crowned with a majestic string arrangement written by Crocker and performed by Polaris and Juno winner Jesse Zubot (Tanya Tagaq, Destroyer).

Deep Cuts: Constellation 25 (1997-2022)
Daily at 1 pm, 6:06pm

Constellation was among a wave of recalcitrant independent labels forged in the 1990s that began documenting new DIY intersections of postpunk, electronic, electroacoustic, avant-folk, drone/industrial, dub/plunderphonic, post-classical and other signal/noise. It has earned an international reputation for consistent quality and artistic diversity across its genre-destabilizing catalogue. Constellation-affiliated musicians have garnered wide-ranging accolades while defying trends, eschewing overexposure, and retaining integrity. 25 years after its founding in 1997, the label is still going strong, releasing long-attention-span LPs by primarily Montréal-based and predominantly Canadian music projects of all sorts.
