Surrounded by a small chamber music ensemble, the artist offers a unique concert in an intimate setting.
Opening act: Charlotte Brousseau
After setting her songs ablaze with a large orchestral ensemble, Jeanne Laforest offers a stripped-down, acoustic version of her repertoire with a small group created for the occasion: the Buissonor. Surrounded by string instruments, blending jazz and classical musicians with her voice, she invites sensitive souls and lovers of subtlety to this intimate concert.
Jeanne Laforest is a versatile artist working in both contemporary multidisciplinary projects as well as in jazz and popular music. A trained singer, after studying at McGill University and the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki, Finland), she released her first album of original songs in 2022. The year 2023 was marked by her participation in the semifinals of Francouvertes and the finals of the Grand Concours at the Granby International Song Festival. In 2024, she created her own hybrid female orchestra, the Forestuor, bringing together more than 25 artists on stage, and is preparing to release a live-recorded EP with her ensemble.
She has also been seen on stage at Espace GO in the show Le Mont Analogue (under the direction of Ballet-Opéra-Pantomime and Wynn Holmes) and in Chœur et Chorégraphes at Agora de la Danse (under the direction of André Pappathomas). She also accompanies several artists on tour or in the studio as a singer, backing vocalist, and keyboardist (Simon Kearney, Arielle Soucy, Crossroad Copeland, Jean-Michel Leblanc, Rodrigo Simoes, Gabriel Genest, etc.).
Mysterious, powerful, rock-solid, Jeanne Laforest takes the audience by storm, surprises, and amazes them. With both feet firmly planted on the ground or twirling breathlessly, her stage presence is unusual and biting.
First captivated by cinema, Charlotte Brousseau now tells her stories through songs. On her very first EP Boucles (2020), nominated at GAMIQ 2021, her compositions take the form of small, mysterious folk epics—signs that she hasn't lost her love for sensitive narrative storytelling and lively performances. In 2022, she released a new single, "Pour endormir nos colères en marchant", and participated, among other events, in the Francouvertes (semi-finals), the Escales en chanson de Petite-Vallée, the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac, as well as the Francos de Montréal. During the grand finale of the Cabaret festif de Baie-Saint-Paul in the spring of 2023, she notably won the audience award. Thanks to the Ampli de Québec and the Rock School Barbey of Bordeaux, she took part in a co-creation residency in France in the summer of 2023. Charlotte is also actively working on her first full-length album, in collaboration with Antoine Corriveau.
