Everywhen by Jonathan Kawchuk
There are just three sounds found on Everywhen, the new album from Canadian wildlife recordist, composer, and vocalist Jonathan Kawchuk: the human voice, sine tones from a synthesizer, and the Rocky Mountains near Kananaskis, Alberta. Recorded painstakingly in Dolby Atmos, it is the product of six years of direct relationship with the trees, stones, streams, grasses, grizzly bears, birds, rabbits, elk, and all other things that call the enormous, humbling mountains home. It is a harsh, anxious, tactile, heavenly, collage-based work of found sound and vocals, of breath and wind and space. It is at once deeply unsettling and supremely calming. It is inspired by and carries the philosophies of athleticism, transcendental black metal, and the unfeeling amorality of nature. Everywhen is not a record about a place. It is a record by a place.

Holding by Zoë Mc Pherson
This piece, written in May 2021 in Berlin during the lockdown, is based on the recording of the rhythm of two audible pedestrian crosswalk signals. These signals, out of sync, tick independently, much like how individuals have their own unique rhythms and patterns.
During that time, our days are like parallel lines that rarely intersected in real life. Yet, I feel like I am you and you are me. I dream about us sharing common questions, re-learning, and making future plans for a better world.
Strongly inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and transformative justice practices, this text encapsulates Zoë Mc Pherson’s reflections on society, intimacy, and gender. While the world is collectively and individually “On Hold,” it is also undergoing profound transformations.

Lolupupi Kutiku by Sofie Birch
Lolupupi Kutiku is a land of invisible forests of crackling plants, humid melodies and curling flowers that lull you into a mysterious silk trance.
Asking “Who are you? Where are you going? What’s in front of you if you listen?” The work combines nature recordings, synths, and sound therapeutic instruments distributed through Habitat Sonore’s speakers, and is an experiment to create contemplative space that embalms the busy spirit.

The Sound and The Fury by Ela Minus
Ela Minus' intention while mixing with Marta Salogni in Dolby Atmos was to maintain the integrity of the music while adding physicality to the mix. To not get lost in the technology, but use it to illuminate the soul of what she made. Use it to place the listener inside it. Illuminate new corners of sound to allow the music to become a richer, more habitable space in which to comfortably place the listener inside. With care and intention.

Consolation In Constellation by Flabbergast
Formed from an unexpected collaboration for a MUTEK_rec release, Flabbergast has evolved significantly since its inception. Comprising of Guillaume Coutu Dumont and Vincent Lemieux, this duo has shifted from spontaneous live improvisations to focused compositions and an increased presence in recorded music since 2014. Drawing on a wide array of influences including electronic music, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary sounds, Flabbergast refuses to be boxed into any single genre. Their diverse expertise allows them to explore and integrate a variety of musical styles into their work, making each piece uniquely broad yet coherent. In addition to a steady stream of releases on various labels, Flabbergast launched their own imprint Copier/Coller in 2023.
