The atomic duo of Malika Tirolien and Caulder Nash is back to present their new album at the very place where this project was born: the PHI Centre!
Support DJ set: DJ Dr.Mad
GeminiCrab is the name of the Montreal-based HighSoul music duo consisting of Felix award winner keyboardist/producer Caulder Nash (Jonathan Roy) and Grammy nominee vocalist/producer Malika Tirolien (Bokanté).
GeminiCrab combines a plethora of music styles including R&B, Soul and jazz-Hip Hop highlighted by honest lyrics from a Gen Y Lens (the title of their album).
The duo met years ago through Montreal's Kalmunity Vibe Collective. They've also played together in Malika Tirolien's solo project and decided to start a band together after a PHI Centre residency that had them create songs with the binaural audio technology.
Caulder came up with GeminiCrab (the name) as the acknowledgement of each member's astrological sign.
Their first single, A Love That Will Last, is an R&B ballad that takes us back to the 1990’s lush chords and arrangements, painting a story about owning responsibility in one’s part in a failed relationship and making space for the next partner.
Originally from Guadeloupe and based in Montreal, Malika Tirolien is an internationally renowned singer-songwriter, composer, and musician.
Her love, passion, and respect for music are evident both on record and during her performances, where she shines through her creativity, dedication, and authenticity.
Whether through her collaborations with Jacob Collier, Jacques Schwarz-bart (D’Angelo, Roy Hargrove), or Vox Sambou, or her electrifying performance on I'm Not The One, the flagship song of Snarky Puppy's album Family Dinner – Volume 1, Malika Tirolien has been garnering attention for a decade.
She also made her first foray into the literary world with the release of a children’s book called NTangu in 2024 (Editions Fonfon). Right now, she is about to release her brand-new project, a duo with Felix award winner, keyboardist and producer: Caulder Nash.
Their band GeminiCrab launched their first single on September 20th, to be followed by the release of the full EP in November that will be supported by an EU/UK tour and a Festival in Rabat.
Caulder is a Felix award winner, touring keyboardist, pianist, synth enthusiast, composer and producer from Montreal. He has worked with many artists (Jonathan Roy, Kallitechnis, Claudia Bouvette, Meryem Saci, Malika Tirolien and others) as their keyboard player, musical director or show arranger. His production and/or composition credits with Fredy V and the Foundation, Meryem Saci, Jonathan Roy, Nora Toutain, Melissa Pacifico as well as the television series Les Poilus on RadioCanada.
Current projects include making new music with new band GeminiCrab and continuing to tour with various artists.
