Join us for Bonanza!, a convivial afternoon of bingo and karaoke, in the presence of artist Nico Williams. Organized by PHI, in partnership with the National Gallery of Canada, the Sobey Art Foundation, and FOFA Gallery, this joyful event celebrates beadwork’s capacity to foster and sustain community.

Enjoy an afternoon filled with:
→ Bingo games with exciting prizes
→ Karaoke in homage to our love of beadwork
→ Delicious food available on-site

All proceeds will go to support the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation.

Contessa Lestrange

Contessa Lestrange is a Red River Métis drag queen born & bred in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A proud Two-Spirit transgender woman, Contessa served as Winnipeg’s Miss Queer Winnipeg 5 and is a member of the Bannock Babes, Winnipeg’s all-Indigenous drag troupe. Outside of drag, she is a beadwork artist who has shown her work in galleries and museums across Canada.

Anita Stallion

Anita Stallion, who is Métis and originally from Duck Bay, Manitoba, has been gracing stages throughout Canada and the United States for more than 20 years. She’s reigned as Miss Club 200 in Winnipeg, and then became the first sole monarch of the Imperial Court of Winnipeg and All of Manitoba, later going on to being appointed to the International Court Council under its founder, the late Jose Saria, where she served for three years. Anita then served a second reign as Empress 8. She’s Club 200’s Matriarch, but can be found hosting events around the city. If you get a chance to meet her, she’s a fun gal who loves to sit and share stories with others over a beverage.

Wayne Robinson + Élise Ross-Nadié

Wayne Robinson is a member of the Ojibway Nation from the community of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg (Pic River First Nations) in Northern Ontario although he spent most of his life in large urban centers. He has worked within the social services for 25 years specializing working with Indigenous and other raciallized people. For the last decade he has worked with Montreal's urban Indigenous community, both through organizations and community initiatives. He is a currently co-host of the Unceded Identity Community Podcast and creates custom beaded jewelry.

Élise Ross-Nadié is passionate about the connections, knots, and intersections between digital cultures, power, and dreams. She also has a keen interest in open-source software, the decolonization of knowledge, and Afrofuturism. Her adventures have given rise to all kinds of media productions: academic, activist, and community podcasts; Wikipedia articles; zines; a wild rose identification guide; deep friendships; a collaborative publication between Canada and Cuba; a collection of feminist texts; and countless dance sessions. Élise is a communicator and an acrobatic writer!
