Reporting to the Building Manager, the Assistant Building Manager supports the Building Manager in his/her/their duties and performs field tasks in order to maintain and improve PHI’s various buildings, acting as a team support, and collaborator with our suppliers while maintaining a harmonious relationship with the occupants.
About the position
Main responsibilities
- Carry out and/or supervise external contractors in manual work such as:
General technical maintenance;
Installation of furniture and or shelving;
Moving equipment and or furniture;
Replacement of neon lights and or burnt-out bulbs;
Door and lock adjustments;
Minor plumbing maintenance;
Painting/plastering;
and or other related tasks.
Coordinate schedules with housekeeping and building security vendors;
- In collaboration with the Building Manager and Infrastructure Director:
Ensure the application of laws, codes and regulations concerning the public safety of occupants and the protection of property;
Prepare, negotiate and supervise contract specifications with suppliers;
Participate in the development of policies and operating standards for the buildings under its management and ensure that they are applied;
Develop building inspection protocols;
Ensure emergency measures are updated and applied;
Manage specific cases (if and when they arise) and and emergencies;
Support other teams in their various projects involving site development;
Offer expertise to find solutions and improve our buildings;
Perform all other related tasks.
Availability (to be on-call) outside normal office hours for emergencies.
Requirements
- Minimum academic requirements: Secondary 5
- Minimum years of experience: 5 years
- General knowledge of building and equipment maintenance (plastering, painting, repairs, plumbing, electrical, ventilation and access control concepts);
- Good physical condition;
- Good communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Asset);
- Experience in a museum environment (Asset).
